Not all history can be found in text books. Neither have all mysteries been converted into thriller movies. For that matter, not all of our cultural heritage is to be found in museums or exhibition galleries. The best way to discover a place is always to walk and explore. To get to know the untold stories one has to roam around in the narrow winding lanes, speak with the locals or even have a breakfast in the local style.
Calcutta and its surroundings have a rich history and culture, which often in our day to day busy schedule we tend to overlook. At Walk Calcutta Walk we are making an attempt to discover the hidden treasures of our city.
Noble laureates, sporting legends, fictional detectives, real life revolutionaries, social reformers, governor generals, rickshaw pullers, the list goes on ….. ; and they all have called this city their HOME. Each one has one’s own unique story to tell. So do the mosques, temples, synagogues, gurdwaras and churches of the city, frequented by men and women of different faiths and origins.
